Big 60 & the International Video Art Festival Lagos
BIG 60 is a ‘lifestyle installation’ by a White Space that mixes up an explosive brew of fashion, art, music and lifestyle events over the course of 60 days. In partnership with White Space the Video Art Network will be hosting the International Video Art Festival Lagos running from 12th December 2013- 31 st January 2014 The purpose of the festival concerns the presentation, promotion and development of new media within the context of contemporary art practices in Nigerian specifically, but also globally. The need for such a project can be especially felt within Nigeria, wherein familiar art practices such as painting and sculpture tend to dominate the art scene. Because of this, the International Video Art Festival Lagos 2013 will provide new and alternative possibilities for local artists and cultural producers–in addition to functioning as a meeting point for emerging and established media artists from all over the world.
